Our Curriculum
Our TESOL/ TEFL Teacher Certification
Program requires exclusive training and careful preparation.
We recommend that our students prepare themselves for a full
work load as there is plenty of material to cover. However, our
TEFL tutors work hard to make each lesson exciting and
challenging and we encourage our students to have fun with the
course, make friends with their fellow classmates, enjoy BA’s
sights and attractions and also take part in Íbero’s weekly
activities.
Materials Project
Students must create some sets of materials
that can be used during Teaching Practice or English lessons in
the future. The materials may include visuals, audio, games,
video, cue cards, or class handouts. Students must prepare these
materials and demonstrate them to their professors in order to
receive feedback and if they choose, use them during teaching
practice.
Foreign Language Experience Journal
(observation journal)
This is a daily record of notes, comments,
reviews, critiques, observation, and personal feelings during
the TEFL program. The journal should include the
following:
-
Daily thoughts on teachings
-
Comparing/contrasting the learning
process with the teaching process
-
Noting observations of teaching
techniques, materials used and classroom management
-
A 200 word conclusion on what was learned
and how to use it in future teachings
Profile of an individual English student
This profile allows students/trainees to
experience what it is like to learn a foreign/second language
and enables them to reflect this experience directly into their
own teaching. Trainees observe a student learning English in
order to learn how to find student needs, create course
objectives and to develop a lesson plan. This profile must
include the following:
-
A clear profile of the student and their
English level
-
Analyze the students learning needs in
the future
-
Analyze the students short-term needs and
create a two week lesson plan

Our Program
Our TEFL/TESOL
students at Íbero complete an intensive 4 week course
that includes 95 hours of instruction as well as 6 hours of
hands-on practice Teaching English as a Second or Foreign
Language.
Our
TEFL/TESOL Teacher Certification Course aims to give
students all necessary tools, theory and methodology and
basically the confidence to do this. Our Trainers are
experienced and sympathetic- very used to
bringing out the best
in our TEFL/TESOL trainees. Our building is comfortable
and centrally located (in downtown Buenos Aires) which
will minimize your travelling time from airports, accommodation,
etc. Our center is super well equipped and busy but at the same
time conducive for study. Trainees can use of all the
usual facilities plus access to the Internet. It is also
advisable to bring your own laptop to help you keep your lesson
plans and materials in order. Observation is a great way of
picking up ideas for
your own lessons, and seeing what really works.
You will observe many teaching styles. At the end of a
successful week, you will receive an ÍBERO TEFL/TESOL exam
to test your teacher abilities.
At the end of the course (upon successfully completing the 4
weeks), you will of course receive the ÍBERO TEFL International
Diploma,
Because of the small
size of our course, students get personalized attention
and learn the tools necessary to teach non- native English
students with a variety of different needs and backgrounds. We
make sure our students have all the materials they need to be
successful. One of the projects TEFL/TESOL Training
includes is creating sets of teaching materials which they can
take to use wherever they end up teaching.Everything our
students/trainees learn will allow them to adjust their future
lessons to students with varying levels of English. The
ability to customize their lesson plans depending on the
needs of their real students is a key skill our TEFL/TESOL
trainees take away.
Our trainees find both
the materials project and the hands-on teaching practice very
useful in preparing them for teaching on their own for the
very first time. Teaching English as a Foreign or
Second Language is a great way
to meet people from different backgrounds, have
the opportunity to learn Spanish before or after your
course, work in Argentina or other Latin American countries or
overseas and share your native language, your culture and your
work and life experiences.
Studying with us and completing
your TEFL/TESOL Certification will allow you to:
-
Know how much you already know about the
English language and teaching
-
Be aware how we all learn a new/foreign
or second language
-
Develop your teacher abilities and
discover that grammar is a useful tool
-
Learn Spanish
and work as an English Teacher in a Spanish speaking
country
-
Learn about different, fun and engaging
teaching techniques
-
Have access to job opportunities as well
as career advice
Our teaching staff
Our

education, experience and attitude. We carefully select TEFL

support both visual and auditory learning styles. A full-time
office staff ensures each student gets personalized attention
